April 24 through 26
Well, we were not that naughty in Nashville, but I will tell you we both were feeling no pain on a Monday night on Broadway in the Music City – dang those people know how to P A R TEEE Y!
We arrived in time to freshen up and head out for an evening filled with friendly people, fabulous food and fancy footwork.
First stop was my favorite place – one I visited in January with my gals – Jane’s Hideaway in East Nashville, where we met Zach and were introduced to his friend Nate Leath, who happened to be the featured musician at this hidden hotspot in East Nashville.

We enjoyed the music, the camaraderie, and the fried okra! After a session of lively innovative music and a lovely dinner, Rob and I bid farewell to Jane’s and Zach and headed to find our way along Music City’s notorious strip Broadway – the bar filled music blasting hotspot! After just a few minutes, Rob came to the conclusion that Vegas could not hold a candle to the debauchery he witnessed as drunken brides to be along with stumbling locals filled the dance floors and spilled out of every other doorway along Broadway!

We landed in Robert’s Western World where the music was loud and countryfied. We watched them grill up their famous fried bologna sandwiches and couldn’t resist having a PBR – Y’all may be familiar with the song One Bourbon , One Scotch, One Beer -recorded by more artist than we can name ~ but I hear the George Thorogood version in my head right now. Here’s our take on that famous line no matter who sang it – we think it should be One PBR, One shot of Jack, One Moon Pie.

Tuesday morning we walked downtown to take in the sites in broad daylight. The Country Music Hall of Fame Museum did not disappoint – we spent over two hours touring the history of country from its roots in bluegrass and to paraphrase Chris Stapleton – its all the blues – the pace is all that really sets one apart from the other.

The inductees are arranged on bronze plaques in an unbroken circle to symbolize that there is no hierarchy as no one inductee is better than the other. Each plaque is arranged as a musical notation – a note on a scale along the walls – the visitors are surrounded by musical genius and country stars of all kinds, including Minnie Pearl.

No trip to this part of the country is complete without several ventures into the native cuisine – so for lunch we ate fried shrimp and gumbo at The Gumbo Bros – YUMMY.

And LO and Behold – what was practically across the street? – THE Station Inn!

This historic music listening room is located in The Gulch area of Nashville. It has hosted bluegrass music since 1974 and its owner, J.T. Gray was inducted into the Music Hall of Fame in 2020. You never know who may show up and join the headliners. We were treated to an impromptu performance by a TikTok star during The Borrowed Mule set.

The Borrowed Mules – so dang fun to listen too!
It was such a treat to share this experience with Kendall and Luke – who were also first timers to The Station Inn. We will be back for sure and remember cash only!

Keeping the rubber side down, Julie and Rob

Brings back great memories. The honky-tonks, the food, the people, the bride parties. Nashville is an extraordinary party city but in a very good way. Have a blast!
