Could not resist a stop at the Fargo-Moorhead Convention and Visitor’s Bureau for a quick selfie with the infamous woodchipper from the classic Coen Brother’s film, FARGO. Joel and Ethan wrote, directed and produced this warped homage to their home state of Minnesota. And of course, I could not resist taking a selfie!

Also nothing could be truer that one of the closing lines : “THERE’S MORE TO LIFE THAN A LITTLE MONEY, YOU KNOW. DON’T YOU KNOW THAT? AND HERE YA ARE, AND IT’S A BEAUTIFUL DAY.”

Not much to see along these byways through eastern North Dakota on my way to Fargo. Just have to appreciate a good sense of humor when you come across it.

Just another day in the life of a small town in North Dakota named after the daughter of a railroad man. Kathryn has a population of less than 100, and I am going to guess these automobiles are not on display. I was looking for the post office – as you can see I found it.

Our home away from home – plugged in and ready to roll onto our next location – Rob followed the bike path on the Central Lakes Trail from here – Linwood Campground on the Red River- and headed south.

Found a great spot in Fergus Falls, MN where we camped on Pebble Lake. Rob enjoyed a refreshing swim in place of a shower and we took in a local BMX race!

On to a quick lunch break to meet up with Rob [and find a much needed laundromat] in Alexandria, MN. After spying the Rune Museum, I was so curious about whether there was an honest to goodness Viking connection!
Big Ole is the pride of Alexandria at 28 feet tall and even though the town was founded by two brothers from Maryland in the late 1800’s – rumor around town is that Norsemen did visit in 1362.

Seemingly poised to guard the small park along Lake Agnes was this fella – Big Ole [O’Lee]. He was built in early 1965 as an addition to the New York World’ Fair – the fiberglass sculptor, Gordon Schumacher also built Smokey Bear in International Falls.
Mileage for Trip A – Julie’s solo trip since leaving Billings, MT after seeing Sue off – 1,759.4 miles at today’s charge in St Cloud. Off to find Rob and a camping spot for the night – Keeping the rubber side down, Julie and Rob
