A stormy arrival in Gettysburg gave way to clear skies and high winds, so we each found our way on our bikes. Rob headed west in the RIVIAN to explore a mountain bike ride recommended by Strava, an online cycling community that highlights local routes.

After organizing our gear ~ again ~ which I will most likely blog about at some point, I rode into Gettysburg to explore the downtown area, including a quick tour around the campus at Gettysburg College. Most of my ride followed along some of the roads travelled that fateful few days in early July of 1863 by Confederate and Union brigades.

Tomorrow we will tour the ground consecrated by those soldiers who gave their “last full measure of devotion” as Lincoln noted in his now famous address.
Then we continue south through Leesburg on our way to camp and explore the Shenandoah Valley to the west, entering at Front Royal.
