…with the gold of sunshine
On Tuesday we headed North from Savannah leaving behind the comforts of home and the generosity of friends ~ for now. From our extended camp stay in Tillman, we were able to visit college friends in Summerville and watch the Bruins Game, tour Fort Sumter and visit Savannah which included a swim at Tybee Island.

we headed to Charleston and Fort Sumter on Friday morning

acknowledged for their role in this fierce fight.
I’d like to see more details of these men who battled here and
wonder if there is a tribute to these brave men at Fort Wagner.

We packed up to leave Tillman and headed into Pooler, which is just outside of Savannah. I mentioned in an earlier post that we spent a trying day the Saturday before Easter in Mechanicsville, VA. Rob woke up with a terrible feeling of vertigo. We made an emergency room visit at a Bon Secours Medical Center. After several tests including a CT scan and intravenous fluids, we didn’t have any answers for Rob’s intermittent bouts of dizziness. We tried some home remedies and even filled prescriptions for dizziness and nausea but to no avail. So after several attempts, I was able to get an appointment to see a specialist. On Monday Dr. Oliver ~ an ENT specialist in Pooler, finally gave us a definitive diagnosis ~ benign paroxysmal vertigo in Rob’s right ear. We are optimistic that an upcoming session with a specialized physical therapist in Atlanta on Friday will help his symptoms.

With renewed energy and filled with optimism, we headed toward our next venture. While we do rely on the RIVIAN to navigate our trips ~ I get out the Rand McNally Road Atlas each day in order to plug in a specific somewhat remote destination. We were looking to discover a scenic historic spot to camp for the night. In my quest, I was disappointed to discover that many state run sites were not available for camping due to staff shortages. Regardless, we persevered and settled on a journey to one of Georgia’s manmade lakes just north of Atlanta.
